I am trying to find out who owned a house my great grandparents rented in Dublin. Can anyone tell me how I go about doing this?
Thanks

Hi Sarah-Jane.
What time frame are you interested in? Thom's street directories usually listed occupants of houses in Dublin city.

Hi Des,
I looked up Thoms and it has my grandparents names listed, but having spoken to the geneologists in Pearse Street Library they advised that it is not definitive that they owned the house at that time, they may have just paid the rates!

Hi A visit to the Valuation Office in Dublin will allow you to search the registers for that address but it a walk in only facility, Abbey Street, Dublin 1 and not available online. pat

The Valuation Office will tell you who the rated occupier is and may also give the name of the owner.
If the property is registered in the land Registry see landdirect.ie a copy of the folio costs € 5
