John Hughes (1795-1855) married Jane about 1814. They lived in Killin County Louth. They were Church of Ireland folk. They had 8 children between 1815 and 1829 some of who married Catholic spouses. Their son John (1816-1907) inherited the family farm in Killin and he lived with Anne Gallagher (who was a Catholic) from 1847 and they had 8 children - Walter 1848, Henry 1849, Margaret 1851, Peter 1853, Anne 1855, Maryanne 1857, Susanna 1859 and John James 1864. John James inherited the family farm in Killin. He married Bridget McArdle in 1887 at Cooley RC church and they had 5 children. Bridget McArdle died in 1894 and a year later he married Catherine Finnegan and had 13 children by her. She died in 1913 and 10 years later in 1923 he married a widow Sarah Finnegan who had 5 children of her own. John James Hughes was a member of Lordship RC church in County Louth. He died in Killin in 1940. If you recognize any of these families please get in touch.
